This is the coloured version of John Conway’s “Game of Life” that I did in python language. The 40x30-cells grid is tiled 2x to make it look richer. The first animation is using ‘flakes’ rule, next one is wolfram 7e, and the last is wolfram 9a.

The color of every new cell is calculated as the average of its neighbours. There are only 6 colors: re, yellow, green, aqua, blue, magenta.

There is static 3D version of the same ‘coloured Life’. I plan to post the screenshots soon.

Coloured Tetris

I just found my first game, Coloured Tetris, and decided to put it here.

It is completely hand-drawn. And coloured. And there is sound.

If you’re curious, I used python (+ pygame, numpy, py2exe), Eclipse, paper + pens, old scanner, MS Paint, and my head.

You can download the game archive here:

Comet alpha 0.1.0 released

My Comet version 0.1.0 alpha is finally released: http://www.mochigames.com/game/comet/.

Currently featuring 9 levels (including the tutorial) and no sounds at all =\

So… I failed to release in the end of April 2011 (end of May in fact) because of lack of money for living. Now I have to work in the daytime and make the game in the evenings/weekends.

The game is work-in-progress yet and I’d really love to know what you think about it. I’m planning on restyle: make it all look hand-drawn and focus on the drawing goals.

Although I have no fine arts education at all, I decided to make all game art by myself recently. Still thinking what to do with the game music.

Tell me what you think!

The Comet release is near!

Screenshot (march 2011)

Hi everyone!

I’ve been making the physics (gravity) game for about 9 months now. It’s nearly completed, but, as you may know, the last 5% of work takes 95% of all time. The Comet (the name can change) is my first game ever, and it is my first Flash project.

The idea is not enough.

The initial idea was the inter-planet transportation of some goods in the gravity field of star and planets. I made the first version of ‘the game’ and played with its features for a long time. The hardest was to understand that it is not the game yet - it’s just the tech demo. There were no evolution in terms ofgameplay at that moment: the user had to throw packages from one planet to another. It was boring.

The gameplay

One night when I tried to sleep I got that idea. What if you are able to control not the whole solar system, but just that small goods pakage alone? And you can fly in the gravity field and draw the figures using your trajectory. Not only the simple loop, but the figure of 8, the loop chain and so on. Two days later the prototype was built. It featured nothing but the star, planets, the comet flying around and making the loops. It was fun, because it was the Gameplay. And the gameplay is most important.

Wanted: game music and sound effects!

Today, three weeks later, the game has much more features and even the tutorial. Currently I’m working on the colored comet tail, the new game mode, and the game art. The main problem for me now is the game music and sounds. Any help and feedback is much appreciated!

I hope the Comet will be released in the end of April (2011).
